Big Draw - "Kelping" Climate Change
September 26 - November 30, 2020
Help us create a kelp forest in our lobby! You can download a template below for inspiration.
This year’s International Big Draw event theme is A Climate of Change. Our island's sea life is so unique and it relies heavily on the strength of our kelp forests. Plus they offer such a beautiful underwater experience for divers and snorkelers alike. Whether you are on the island, in the mountains or in the desert, you can still participate and help us create a kelp forest! Whatever you do, please take inspiration from the environment that surrounds you when creating your art.
All ages are encouraged to take part, and everyone's artwork will be included. If you can, please make your artwork out of recyclable materials.
Bring in or send a drawing, painting or collage of kelp and/or fish to help build a kelp forest in our lobby. Submissions will be accepted through November 30, 2020 and may be sent to Kellie Costello at , mailed to Catalina Island Museum, PO Box 366, Avalon, CA 90704, or dropped off at the museum between 10 am 5 pm Wednesday through Sunday. We ask that you include your name and age on the back of your artwork. Once all submissions are collected, we will assemble them into a kelp forest. The result should be a bit like what is pictured here:
