education center and collections storage campaign
The Catalina Museum for Art & History Education Center and Collection Storage Capital Campaign launched in 2021 with the initial fundraising efforts and will conclude in the summer of 2023 with the grand opening of the Education Center and the Collection Storage. Construction for the project began on September 19, 2022. The museum will remain open during construction.

Education Center
Santa Catalina Island has one public school, the Avalon School, which serves approximately 500 children in grades K – 12. CMAH works closely with teachers and families to provide arts and education programs. Through the arts, students develop skills like resilience and a growth mindset to help them master their craft, do well academically, and succeed in life after high school. The new Education Center will be the place where these important programs will occur.\

- Additional space for general programming, exhibitions, and facility rentals.

Collection Storage
With a collection of over 100,000 artifacts, ephemera, and original artworks, the museum’s new Collection Storage is a much-needed addition. The museum does not have adequate storage facilities to house the collection or maintain proper temperature and humidity levels. The new Collection Storage will address these concerns.
